Pros

It’s well-known in the industry and will build a great CV

Cons

However, working in there will eat you alive. I know several people that had to left due to mobbing & anxiety die to how overworked they were and they are doing regular layoffs, so no one is safe in there.

Pros

Respectful attitude to employees, corporate culture

Cons

Organizational structure is complicated, functions are duplicated, almost impossible to find proper team who can support with particular questions. A lot of overtime working that is not paid

Pros

- Some of the best colleagues I have ever had, the people I worked with will be lifelong friends - Being able to work alongside incredibly smart and intelligent people who really know their stuff - Paid relocation - Extremely strong works council

Cons

- Low pay, this includes general compensations & benefits - Inept management, leads up to senior management being unaware of the most basic aspects of the departmental roles - The company is rife with nepotism, individuals are hired into positions they are woeful unskilled to do, purely on the basis of internal friendships - Since the company began moving in the direction of an American corporate body the emphasis has been more on disregarding people and only caring about profit margins. People are just disposable units in Zalando, this has been case proven during a company wide call where the CEO told a very well-established, long standing employee he is not welcome at the company if he is not happy with the policies being implemented in Zalando - If you aren't a German native you will be treated in a far lower regard - If you request further training it will be denied because 'financial situations' - Inter-departmental feuds mean that collaboration is difficult or non-existent, there is an internal joke that any minor issue in the company will take a minimum of two quarters to begin to change - Any feedback you give will be disregarded and never acted upon, this includes the internal feedback on the company and department forms that were requested to be filled out frequently - Some members of the management in security don't even know what a VPN is, these people were requesting tasks from us which we were supposed to implement, just because it's from the management. The non-sensical requests were never pushed back by the departmental lead or head, but you know, at least they were hired because they were friends - There was never any sense of real appreciation in the company or in the department for the work that we did. If you want to feel appreciated in your work, this company is not for you. I am pretty sure the people that work for Apple's sweatshops putting phones together with netting around the windows to stop them from jumping feel more appreciated - You will be chastised for speaking your mind, this could be in the form of low renumeration after the employee evaluations, or from refusal to promote, be warned, if you speak out against practices in the company, you will be disproportionately negatively affected

We take what you say very seriously as the described behavior is not what we strive to practice and goes against our values and high standards. We have shared your feedback with leadership and our People and Organization team who are investigating the case in order to drive improvement where needed. - Talent Acquisition Team
