Pros

40% discount on apparel sold by the company. Mostly nice people to work with and rather friendly, international working environment. Voluntary hybrid working model till the end of 2022.

Cons

Poorly copied Amazon culture and hiring process. Company's principles are a facade - no one really commits to them or treats them seriously. Low salaries, especially on junior positions. Zalando punishes loyalty and experience. Growth opportunities inside the company are non-existent, as it fully focuses on external hiring instead. Big salary gaps between the existing employees and new hires on the same levels. Tolerance for language referring to gender, race, age, sexual orientation or physical appearance, which in any other reputable company would result in an immediate termination, e.g. "heterosexual white males". Gender bias, both in hiring and internal trainings (women are preferred). Company openly admits to "positive discrimination" (discrimination is discrimination whether you call it “positive” or not).

Non competitive salary, product management organization is run like a cartel and they prohibit people from entering unless they are family members. Some of the employees are openly racist and disrespectful

- Good university kind of space in case you want to learn stuff (and at a professional level) - Loads of exposure working with talented BU heads -

Cons

- People team and especially the Talent Acquisition team is not a very healthy place to be. Very toxic environment - Leadership does not address internal issue (turns a blind eye even after seeing poor team engagement results) and focusses more on business delivery. Even if its at the cost of team health - A lot of judgement and mistakes are not openly accepted - Benefits are not upto market standard
