Pros

I found it a great company regarding the environment, but I felt a bit overworked considering that we did not receive a good salary.

Cons

I already shared them. I believe that we had so much work to do and we were not compensated for that work.

Hi, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about your experience at GSG. We're glad to hear you appreciated the work environment we've strived to create, but we're concerned to learn about your feelings of being overworked and not adequately compensated. Ensuring fair and competitive compensation for the amount of work our team members put in is a priority for us. We're actively working on reviewing our compensation packages and processes, including implementing a matrix system for salary increases based on individual performance and market comparison. This initiative is part of our commitment to ensuring our team members feel valued and fairly rewarded for their contributions. We understand the importance of maintaining a healthy work-life balance and are committed to addressing concerns related to workload and compensation. We encourage you to reach out to our Talent Attraction and Engagement team at tae.team@joingsg.com with more detailed feedback. Your insights are invaluable in helping us improve and ensure that GSG continues to be a great place to work for everyone. Thank you again for your input. Should you wish to share more about your experience or have further suggestions, we encourage you to reach out to our Talent Attraction and Engagement team at tae.team@joingsg.com. Colleagues are nice, located in De Pijp near tram and metro stop.

Pros

Hybrid work mode. You’re required to come into the office once a week (and sometimes not at all). They don’t bother you after working hours, so work–life balance is genuinely good. Overtime is paid (triple rate). Public holidays follow Malaysia’s calendar, so no surprises there. Most team leads are great. They are helpful, supportive, and willing to guide you from A to Z. Colleagues are mostly friendly and welcoming. There are free food, events, sponsored trips, and other perks. Overall, it’s a decent place to start your career.

Cons

While it’s a good place to start your career, your career can also end abruptly on a random Monday if the higher-ups decide so. Job security and longevity are close to zero. You can be laid off without warning, even if you’re a high performer. When breaking the news, there is zero empathy. Social and communication skills from upper management are practically nonexistent. You may be moved from one market to another randomly. Then, if the new market underperforms, you’re laid off as if it’s a punishment. Severance pay? Low. Don’t expect much. And despite the low amount, it’s still split into two separate payments. LOL. Salary-wise, after 8 years of operating, the starting salary at the KL hub is still the same. No adjustment, despite claims that it’s “competitive and fair.” Apparently, inflation does not exist. You’ll be paid in RM, a weaker currency, yet the pay is still low. If you’re in the KL hub, expect to be treated unfairly. You’ll be overworked, constantly covering teams from other regions across different time zones, with no fair compensation or appreciation. It’s your fault, apparently, for being in the KL hub. Upper management is a mess. Communication is terrible, management skills are questionable, and processes change every single week. This week: write like this. Next week: new writing style, start over. Again. And again. Until they finally decide it’s “good enough.” Surprise! It’s time to lay you off. To make things worse, HR is not based in Malaysia. Communication is difficult, and it’s questionable whether they fully understand Malaysian labour laws and regulations. Overall, find another company. Don’t waste your time or skills here. You won’t be appreciated, and you won’t be paid fairly. You deserve better. We all deserve better.

Hi, Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed and honest feedback. We recognise the frustration and disappointment reflected in your words, and we’re sorry that your experience, particularly toward the end of your time with us, left you feeling this way. This is not how we aim for our people to experience their time at Atolls. We know that periods of change can be especially challenging, and that the way decisions are communicated plays a significant role in how they are experienced. Your comments regarding job security, cross-regional workload, and the experience of being based in the Kuala Lumpur hub raise important points that we take seriously and continue to reflect on as an organisation. While business priorities and structures can evolve over time, our intention is always to act responsibly and to support our people with clarity and respect. Feedback like yours helps us assess how our processes, leadership communication, and support systems are experienced in practice, and where we can continue to strengthen consistency and transparency. We also appreciate you acknowledging the positive aspects of your time at Atolls, including work-life balance, supportive team leads, and collaboration with colleagues. Experiences can differ across teams and over time, and it remains our responsibility to ensure that positive elements are not overshadowed by uncertainty or misalignment. Thank you again for providing your perspective. If you are open to providing additional context directly, our People & Culture team can be reached at tae.team@atolls.com. Sincerely, Atolls P&C Team
