The hiring process at AT&T takes an average of 30 days when considering 2 user submitted interviews across all job titles. Candidates applying for Sales Representative had the quickest hiring process (on average 30 days), whereas Sales Representative roles had the slowest hiring process (on average 30 days).
The process took 4 months. I interviewed at AT&T (Roswell, GA) in Dec 2009
Interview
Submitted online application and received email invitation to take qualifying exam. It's a very simple, math structured, test. After passing that test, a drug screen, physical and Realistic Job Preview (RJP) was scheduled. Extensive background check was done verifying all past experiences. After successfully passing those obstacles, another phone interview was conducted. AT&T calls this the CSA-F, Customer Service Assessment – Field and it is designed to see if you are going to represent AT&T well in front of the customer.
I was offered, and accepted, a job.

Question 1
Behavioral Quesiton: what would a family member say your biggest weakness is?
I applied through other source. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at AT&T (Cedar Rapids, IA) in Jan 2007
Interview
I was an internal candidate that had built a relationship with the director and was able to acquire the position via a phone interview alone. The company likes to promote from within because the learning curve is not as severe as for someone from the outside. Also, I have come to understand that promoting from within allows the company to better leverage compensation to their advantage as well as utilize someone that is already invested and accostomed to the overall beaurocracy of the organization.
