I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Lowe's Home Improvement (Atlanta, GA) in Feb 2016
Interview
The interview was set up with the Store Manager and the Human Resources manager. Only the Store manager actually asked questions from a prepared form. Both managers made extensive notes as we talked. The interview was an hour long and there were 8 situational questions. Before the actual interview starts, you must read and sign a 5 page set of rules and policies.

I applied online. I interviewed at Lowe's Home Improvement (Stony Brook, NY) in Nov 2015
Interview
The interview with the store manager and HR managers was strictly based on questions about tell me about a time when. Those kinds of questions may be helpful when it comes to interviewing a manager that doesn't have a lot of management expertise yet. I'm 43 years old and have been in retail for 27 years and have been a retail manager at a high level for the last 15 years and you know how many questions I was asked about my background? None. I have since accept another offer for a store manager position with another retailer. It would have been nice if Lowes based there hiring decisions based on a conversation between the hiring managers and the candidates actual background instead of using pre scripted interview questions that are designed so that the interview only lasts a certain amount of minutes and really don't focus on the candidates and there background and experiences. Had they actually would have focused on my background they probably would have realized I would have been a great fit for Lowes.
