Pros

Amazon is a really multiple companies (some of them startups) in one. You get to choose what you want to do in here. Anyone can work towards what they want to become after joining any role in Amazon. Amazon does not care who you are as long as you can fulfill your role. All tools necessary to be successful are made available to you.

Cons

While it is a great company to work for and provides you with a lot of options, there is a lot of politics that you wont even be aware of. Also, your manager will not explicitly state what is required of you. You have to figure that out. And you have to talk to multiple people around your team to figure out what is expected. This is not a place for people that want to spend time with family and not think about work all the time. You should be willing to tell your family that the time you will spend with them is scheduled for and cannot spend more time with them than that. This is due to one of Amazon's leadership principles - Frugality (Do more with less). The only resource lacking in Amazon is headcount. You will have to do a 100 things and you will be given 30% of the people to do that in the time you have to get it done.
