Pros

The company has a good benefit package.

Cons

The company prides itself on getting the job done with a “lean” take. This means literally no hours at all times. Even as an assistant manager I was promised 40 hours per week but on a consistent basis was scheduled for about 36 and most weeks missed an entire day or days on a check. Associates has to go assist nearby stores to get extra hours because they consistently get scheduled for only 1-2 days per week. As an ASM you’re forced to go to other stores for workshops which isn’t told per interview that aren’t nearby in which you’re promised by the company compensation via (concur) for mileages and via (company) for travel time. You will receive none of the above and burn miles, time, and maintenance on your personal vehicle getting to these locations which take an hour plus to get to. They do not have a proper training system and require you on your free off time to print and read all of their SOP and policies to be able to verbatim be able to articulate them for your many store walks because they do not want to invest in paying for the time to teach you properly. The registers and self checkouts has to be the most inconsistent system of them all in the store. Customers will often get mad because they will lag, ask for assistance, weigh items wrong, or simply won’t let them proceed without an employees assistance. No work life balance my schedule for the current week would change with no notice. You’ll come into work on days that was changed or have important events just populate on your calendar and you are told to “always look at the calendar and check the notes.” When it’s the SMs responsibility to articulate any changes and do so in a timely manner.

Pros

Great Benefits Community Engagement Frequent Opportunities For Advancement

Cons

Lack of Accountability in Leadership Work/Life Balance (Depends on the SM/DM, have had experience with great and terrible scheduling) No confidentiality or direct interaction available with HR Department Multiple terminations made because of personal opinions of SM/DM on grounds of "at-will" employment, regardless of work ethic
