Pros

Steady income, indoor work for most of the positions available!

Cons

Having to give up most weekends with your family! Being at the mercy of bad Zone Managers, who do not have a clue about managing people. Panic attacks when the District or above are scheduled to visit, resulting in chasing your tail (for what?).

Pros

All retail stores are subject to intense disection by former employees, that being said, Lowe's as a company is failing. However depending on certain managers, the is offset. Basically, it comes down to the senior management staff. I worked for Lowe's for over three years, and the entire time I worked there I thought that I could do better at other retailers. Lowe's will make you think that they are the leading retailer in employee satisfaction, however that is simply not the case. Lowe's is simply like all other retailers... Your career is simply based on the senior store management and whether they believe in you as an employee.

Cons

Benefits, time off, company fallout over failing home improvement market, lay offs.

Pros

The pay is pretty decent for retail and i haven't had any problems getting time off when I need it. The associates are usually very friendly and just want to make money like everyone else. On occasion you will have a good zone or manager who actually cares... but it is rare.

Cons

If you start as a part-time employee there is little chance to get full time. Plus they like to promote people that are in the managers click more than people who actually deserve it. They will work a skeleton crew into the ground and then just replace them when they are no longer useful.
