Stay Away For Your Own Good

Pros

Medical company that actually does something significant for the world. Convenient hours. Easy to slack off if that is your thing.

Cons

- Management in constant fire-extinguishing mode. - Can't make a difference based on data or engineering or buisness, only based on politics. - Over 25 people left in the past 3 months, and more to come. - Low salaries - Very obvious "everyone is replacable" mentality - Engineering descisions made by high management, disregarding the engineers. - Very low inter and intra team colaboration despite efforts by good people, due to toxic environment - No RSU or options.

Joining Philips was the worst decision of my life

Pros

Salary comes on time every month. Good employee benefits and perks. Good work-life balance. Leave policy is good, sick leaves are not limited.

Cons

Lot of politics and micromanagement. Community based favourism. Micromanagement has led to exodus but still upper management doesn't care. Managers demean and humiliate you for the smallest of issues and doubts. Getting shouted on is quite normal. This leads to self doubt and demotivating. The environment is very depressing. No proper guidance for freshers. No mentor to help you. They expect you to learn and do everything, from full stack development to testing. HRs are there just for namesake. Even after complaining about issues multiple times, they literally wouldn't do anything about it. When asked for follow up they would just put the blame back on you. Agile process is also just there for namesake. No improvement actions are taken. Senior management is very arrogant and they just repeat the cycle of blaming everything on the development team.
