Pros

- Brilliant colleagues - Nice environment and quasi-free canteen - Good salary from a "senior developer" level and benefits, but not very good. You can earn more in other places - For some people, a company car after 3 years (for me, this is useless) - Interesting projects but you need the luck to work on one of those - Flexible working hours and home office - Family friendly

Cons

- Under the hood, SAP is a traditional German company with a strong hierarchy and a lot of bureaucracy and politic - In spite of PR, the innovations are not promoted if this brings no benefit for your manager(s) - Very slow processes and developments - You do not see how and by whom the product, you are working on, is used - Strong budget limitations for some teams, but money with no limits for others. The criteria are - how good your manager's relation to upper management and which technology is currently a hype - Promotion and salary increase is slow and limited - High fluctuations SAP could be a great place for consultant, politicians and managers but as a software developer you can find much better companies to work for

Pros

* Insurance / PF/ Gratuity all good when it comes to employee well being * Good brand to work, but outside India

Cons

* Highly Political Organisation in India. Run Simple is the word to be followed out side India, but not India. * Motivation/Pep Talks from Senior Management is negative in India. * Senior Management takes call on the basis of gut (Wimps and fancies) rather than ground reality facts in India. * No work life balance. An employee is employed for 24/7 all 365 days a year. Which reduces the fact of learning and ownership of working for the organisation in India. * Senior Management assigns the task as per their will without doing a home work as what is the capacity, and what is the propensity to achieve a target in India. * If an employee is good is rapport building with Senior Management, then she/he is safe, or else keep looking out. * Highly unprofessional Senior Management specially in India, not too sure about other locations/regions. * Because of Senior Management the culture and values which is being followed in other locations/ regions is negligible.

We are sorry your experience at SAP has more cons than pros. That said, we are thankful that you took the time to share your opinion here, so we and others who work on this can reflect on it and think about ways we can adapt and do more to ensure you and others feel valued, have more clear communications, set-up better training, and minimize politics.

Pros

SAP is a big brand and as a consultant you work only for bluechip companies. Good for the CV. Start at SAP, move on after a few years and doi a real career somewhere else. Then come back to SAP when you grow old.

Cons

no clear career path, low salary, no respect towards employees - you are just a headcount, difficult to be promoted.
