      Strange place for a software developer

      Pros

      Supportive and fair workplace (Based in Germany). Good and transparent pay (thanks to the IGM). Healthy approach to employee oversight and management.

      Cons

      They want to "digitalise" but seem to lack the forward thinking mindset to do this. The workforce are a bit jaded when it comes to "digitalisation" as there have been many efforts over the years to do so but that were underinvested in, and therefore ended in poor results. The internal tooling, digital services and digital process have aged badly and make work frustrating, The company are also slowly adopting more and more Microsoft services and tools, which for software development is atrocious. We also have no option but to use Windows OS, which shows that management do not understand that software developers have different requirements than the others (also as my team does not develop Windows solutions...). Every day I waste time fixing some issue with WSL2, particularly now on Windows 11.
