Pros

Managers treat employees in a nice manner, most colleagues are friendly. Salary is okayish to good.

Cons

Most managers are not competent in their area. E.g. IT managers have no relevant IT skills and experience, controlling managers have no controlling background or experience, reporting leaders have no data warehouse skills etc. Hence you will often get great recognition for really, really elementary work, but your advanced work will be politely ignored because neither colleagues nor bosses can understand what you are doing. Managers are selected by how well they gel with the in-crowd. Employees are regularly promoted over their managers. Likewise many managers end up getting demoted or pushed out for not gelling well enough with their peers. There's a constant up-and-down and it is entirely unclear whether your employees will not end up being your bosses tomorrow or your bosses your employees. This paralizes the entire organization as work life revolves around positioning yourself and being friendly with colleagues and not stepping on anyone's toes (who could become your boss tomorrow). Also you need to be perceived as being active and involved without actually changing anything => not stepping on toes. Hence the organisation stagnates and elementary stuff like a data-warehouse is being introduced two decades after everyone else has built one and then in a shoddy and ramshackle fashion. Remember that criticism is not desirable at Uniper, so the incompetent boss or employee always wins by default. Sensible employees regularly depart "the quiet way", i.e. they seem to just disappear and are never heard or spoken of again. If one asks about them then people are all hush-hush. All in all it's just indescribable, and not in a good way. If you are a technologist, legal expert or any other sort of specialist then my strong suggestion is to look elsewhere. The place is being taken over by Fortum, so it is probably for the best to steer clear of Uniper anyway.

Lack of professionalism never seen before

Pros

Salary, benefits and work-life balance

Cons

In more than 10 years of career, working for several companies, I have never seen a company with this level of management incompetence. Employees with no experience or ability to deal with people are promoted to management roles, causing extreme level of demotivation and frustation among his team. When reasonable suggestions (based on good practices from the market and experience) were brought in, the management considered this as a personal criticism to their work and started to ignore who proposed it. Internal and external customers were treated with high-level of disrespect, in a way that I have never experiencied in a professional company.

Pros

Very relaxed working place very flexible

Cons

There is no learning possibility, you can work for 20 years there and a person with one year work experience at a consultancy company is far ahead Extremely political, departments compete with each other and there are always silos All work is handed to externals, even project management is outsourced The best have left already years ago Many internal developers cannot even make a hello world console app Many IT managers and IT staff are from human science background, there were senior architects with sociology background with absolute no idea of IT or computer science!
