I applied online. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at Starbucks (Salt Lake City, UT) in Nov 2011
Interview
Easy interview. They asked basic interview questions such as, experience, past employment, availability, "name a time when you gave great customer service", "name a time when you dealt with an angry customer and tell me how you solved the problem", strengths and weaknesses.

Question 1
The questions were not difficult at all if you have interview experience. My interviewer basically told me the job duties and how desperate she was to get people working to fill in holes. She was a new manager and was "cleaning house", so to speak. I wasn't sure how I felt about going into that type of job situation, but it turned out okay. She really did need to clean house! I also had to interview with the DM, but that was more like just a meeting and not an interview.
I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Starbucks (London, ON) in Sep 2008
Interview
went to a job fair, had what is Starbucks standard of two job interviews. Both interviews where about a half hour in length.
Actually hired on as a barista; was in that role for a year then promoted to Shift. Each level there is an interview process where you meet with the district manager and answer behavioural based questions.
