Pros

I came into HubSpot excited, motivated, and ready to face challenges head-on. But nearly 10 months in, I feel completely drained—not from the work itself, but from the culture and structural issues that make success feel out of reach. The system HubSpot uses to manage rep capacity and account sourcing is fundamentally broken. It heavily favors tenured reps who already have stacked books and deep-rooted relationships with partners and RevOps. These reps dominate the leaderboard, while new hires are left scrambling for scraps, with little support and almost no chance to catch up. It's not a level playing field, and it shows—only the top 5-10% of reps (almost all long-tenured) are regularly hitting quota in the entire Small Business org.

Cons

Management culture makes it worse. When you're doing well, you’re celebrated. The moment you have a dip, you're suddenly treated like you're incompetent or lazy. There’s no grace, no curiosity, no support—just judgment. I’ve never experienced micromanagement like this before. Managers sit on your calls, dictate what you say, and ultimately try to run the deal themselves. It’s demoralizing. You're not treated as a professional with experience—you're treated like a puppet. It’s become clear that there simply isn’t enough opportunity or business to go around. Overhiring has created massive internal competition, and leadership seems to be aware of the problem—but nothing changes. I wanted to grow here. I wanted to build something. But HubSpot has made it clear that I can’t. I’ll likely have to move on soon if I want to actually be trusted, supported, and given a fair shot at success.

Pros

Remote work and health benefits

Cons

HubSpot is really leaning out its marketing department. If you like doing the job of three people — and get invigorated by the occasional layoff — I encourage your to apply. But seriously, though. What is going on? The CEO said no more layoffs in December and here we are, a few months later, with another silent layoff. And while there's no "right" way to do a layoff, they're very callous in how they do it. Out of respect for my colleagues, I will leave it at that. All that aside, you'll notice a common theme in all these reviews, and it's that your experience at HubSpot is largely dependent on your manager. Unfortunately, many people in management positions at HubSpot are not qualified. Another big call out if career growth. In my experience, you will get saddled with more and more work but your title and compensation will not budge. This is not a place to grow.

Pros

- Some really great people still there who are smart, collaborative, hard working and caring - Product teams do a great job launching new features - Decent opportunities for internal career advancement - Remote work flexibility

Cons

I worked at HubSpot pre-Covid. The energy and support I felt from other HubSpotters way back when was amazing. It got the company through the hard early days of lockdown - then the surge in business that came right after. We supported each other through the good and the bad. HEART wasn't just a culture slogan but how most HubSpotters approached each other and their customers. But then something changed. "High performance culture" came in. Another way of saying we'll get rid of anyone for any reason we want. No more trying to lift up your fellow HubSpotter and supporting each other through challenges and tough times. Micromanagement took over and the vibe turned to Survivor. So many long time employees and leaders have left the company recently. It's become like any other big software company.

Sorry to read this--that's the opposite of what we are trying to do, and you'll see our team is sharing more this week on what employees can expect in terms of investments and growth in the year ahead, so I hope that helps take some of the "sting" or perceived fear out of the messaging and approach on performance, but please keep the feedback coming if it doesn't. -Katie
