Pros

There is only one Pro in Lowe's. People call it Lowe's for Pros. If getting shiny new welcome kits at your joining during this remote working setting means anything to you or lets you just post on LinkedIn, you may consider it a pro as well. Apart from that, there is absolutely nothing else.

Cons

Just a mere shadow of what it used to be. Organisational changes happening at a frantic pace, faster than the rate at which a chameleon can change its color. Outright catastrophic work life balance for India people, especially in the pandemic. WFH is like a licensed gun of slavery here. Mental health seems to be just two words of apparent concern in an email or hashtag. The whole India workforce are like puppets in the hands of the US ventriloquists, who are mostly Indians working in the US who think they have got a privilege card and can flash it anytime, anywhere to secure their position in the company. Hyper-conscious bias in some teams. If you worked in Target, even if in a previous life, your life here is gonna be good, mate. And did I say, the entire leadership right from top till bottom are filled with people from Target. Trench deep working silos, expert mushroom management, exasperating ad-hoc meetings, counter-productive engineering practices, morbid favouritism, horrible hiring standards and hideous toxicity appearing at every low level in this place. It's just relentless and will burn you out sooner than later. Absolute wreckage of good management and communication ethos. I have personally faced hostile communication styles from Indian people at the same level working in the US and newly hired Indian managers in the US from companies like Cognizant. They don't know how to talk, how to appreciate others or how to respect a fellow employee's contribution. They just want everything for themselves. Talk about insecurity, huh ?? Pathetic designation nomenclature and alignment. No internal parity. HRs are like paid media as usual. Wait, they are worse. They are the most worthless department in the organisation. That was not at all a surprise though. People here treat employees as if they are a part of some extended family only when they are with the organisation. The moment an employee leaves the organisation, they become some estranged piece of garbage for them. Why am I not surprised !!! Lastly, career growth is just dead here, my friend. Absolutely DEAD.

Pros

Wonderful floor colleagues, good people. They want to learn but they have no one to teach them. Lowe's doesn't care. Lowe's has no interest in the competent.

Cons

Skill less management who operate by bullying. Department managers who know nothing about their section. Lowe's moves them from place to place. Resentment of anyone who is knowledgeable in the field. One full time garden person didn't even know what pansies are. Most know nothing about gardening. Telling you not to explain to customers but - "Just point to the section and let them take care of themselves." And when they hear customers say "I've come back just to talk to you." They really steam. Lowe's doesn't care. They work on volume not on professionalism, and - there are dozens out there who need a job for $11 an hour. Advice to Management Have your management learn people skills. They are on the brutish side who know nothing about working professionally and productively. But what does Lowe's care? They make money by volume and customer need no matter who runs the show. Now, when I posted this, Lowe's asked for me to call directly. When I called, the person was in India. Clearly, a front wall barrier. This diversion underscores what I mentioned about Lowe's. They are totally corporate. Management is unskilled, department heads are clueless. Floor people know nothing about their materials. BUT - Lowe's doesn't care. They make money regardless. The products sell themselves. The quintessential functional machine with neither interest nor connection to the public.
